anyone using a HOB Refugium?

Was wondering if anyone is using one of these and what kind of results they are having?

I really like the concept of this as my tank has a built in filter unit and i don't really want to run a sump off of it to get the desired effect.

Re: anyone using a HOB Refugium?

im using a cpr hang on back but i also have a sump running i havent tested my water other then for cal and alk for about 2 years now so i cant say for sure if its pulling any bad stuff out of the water or not but i never had any issues in the past either. i can tell you that in the past month all the algae has tripled in size so it dose work to grow.

Re: anyone using a HOB Refugium?

I use a modified AC500 (new name is Aquaclear 110) fuge on my 16G bowfront. There are lots of articles on converting the AC filters to fuges on nano reef and RC.

Re: anyone using a HOB Refugium?

I am using the CPR large on my 60 and I really like it. I remove about 1/2 of the chaeto every other week, so it must be feeding on something.

Tank Description: 55gal, 448watts HO.1/5hp via aqua chiller, remora hang on skimmer and cpr hangon refug. LPS, SPS, Softies, gorg, various shrimp 2 damsels. A work in progress.
